In 2003, Chef Chris Bruno transformed Fiddler’s Restaurant into Chris’s American Restaurant. A local favorite in Brookfield, Connecticut, Fiddler’s was a popular classic Irish pub/restaurant. But Chef Chris Bruno had a vision to create an establishment with a more modern atmosphere and a menu filled with his own creations.
Once the $20,000 renovation was complete, Chris’s American Restaurant had taken form. A new zinc bar top, textured walls, and abundant lighting gave the building a 21st century makeover. Chris Bruno also swapped the outdated furniture, including the tables and chairs, with more modern furnishings to complete the indoor transformation.
After Chris Bruno doubled the size of the parking lot and improved the building’s appearance, Chris’s American Restaurant was nearly ready for business. The final area for Chris Bruno was the menu.
While he kept a few fan favorites from the Fiddler’s menu, Chris Bruno wanted to make Chris’s American Restaurant unique. Possessing experience in working alongside master chefs at L’Europe, a highly regarded restaurant in New York, Chris Bruno wanted to develop his own unique creations.
A few of Chef Chris Bruno’s signature dishes are peppercorn-crusted Chilean sea bass and sautéed duck breast, grilled Mahi Mahi with tropical fruit salsa, and Southwestern shrimp-and-corn chowder. All of his creations are based on Chef Chris Bruno’s mix of European, Latin, Asian, and regional American influences.
All of these delicious options are prepared by Chef Chris Bruno and his hand-selected kitchen staff of sous chefs Bob Adams and John Vales, and saucier Hector McDermott. Chris’s American Restaurant features a wait staff that is always smiling, and Chef Chris Bruno takes prides in his restaurant’s cleanliness.
In 2010, Chris Bruno updated the restaurant once again. The establishment is now known as 189 Sports Cafe. While the name and look may have changed, Chris Bruno’s delectable cuisine remains on the menu.
